National voting took place in Kyrgyzstan on Sunday, October 21.

"By the preliminary data received by the State automated system Shayloo, the referendum took place: as of 20.00 p.m. 2.188.217 out of 2.698.196, included in the lists, voters took part in voting," the Central Electoral Commission of Kyrgyzstan informs.

The greatest activity of voters has been registered in Batken oblast (86.19 %), the least - in Bishkek (70.13 %). Preliminary results of voting will be made public today, at 11.00.

According to the Central Electoral Committee of Kyrgyzstan, "voting, as a whole, in the Republic was held actively, without infringements. "About 2.500 observers were present at the polling districts, including approximately 850 - from political parties, the others - from public associations.

After receiving the reports from all the sites of oblast or city, they will be delivered to the regional, Bishkek city to the commission of referendum. These commissions, having considered at the sessions the results of voting will issue the reports on results of voting and will immediately present them to the Central Election Commission.

As it was informed earlier, the decree on referendum was signed by the President Kurmanbek Bakiyev on September 19, 2007.
