Astana. September 25. Kazakhstan Today - Reshuffles in the government are not caused by economic or social problems.

The reason for reshuffles was the fact that the former Prime Minister Karim Massimov tired and asked for his resignation, the newspaper "Express K" wrote.

Candidature of a new Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov was presented by President Nursultan Nazarbayev at yesterday's joint session of Parliament. "Karim Kazhimkanovich Massimov was a head of our government for about six years. He worked, I think, efficiently and very actively. He worked at a time of strong global financial crisis. Our country came out of this situation with honor. This is mostly the merit of the government services and the Prime Minister," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

He noted that the government is usually changes in the case of social or economic problems and when the society itself requires updating.

"Our situation is different, it is because the Prime Minister asked for his resignation," President said.

According to him, Karim Massimov requested the resignation last year, explaining his decision that he was tired and wanted to go to another job.

"For every one person that we put forward to the great posts, we spent a lot of time and effort, therefore, in order not to lose such experience, I did not let him go, and appointed head of the Presidential Administration," said the head of state.

Nazarbayev also commented on the appointment of S. Akhmetov to the post of Prime Minister. "He is in the know, this will ensure the continuity and soft power transfer in the government. This is necessary in the current turbulent times, in the changing situation in the world markets and in the country," said the President.
