Resolution of final document of intermediate term review of Almaty Program of Actions accepted at 63rd session of UN General Assembly

The resolution of the final document of the intermediate term review of the Almaty Program of Actions was accepted in New York on October 2-3 during the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly, the agency reports referring to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan Today - The resolution of the final document of the intermediate term review of the Almaty Program of Actions was accepted in New York on October 2-3 during the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly, the agency reports referring to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

According to the press service of foreign policy department, the delegation of Kazakhstan headed by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Danenov, took part in the plenary session to discuss the intermediate term review of realization of the Almaty Program of Actions accepted in the interests of maintenance of special needs of the developing landlocked countries.

The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, stated that the international community will consider economic vulnerability of the landlocked countries, facilitate access of their goods to the world markets, and render them technical and financial help directed at overcoming problems connected with their geographical isolation. The United Nations Secretary General emphasized that the landlocked developing states require special support and partnership from the international community.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the chairmen of the delegations discussed a number of main questions of development of transit-transport infrastructure of the midland and transit states, a complex of measures necessary for strengthening of global partnership with the purpose of creation of effective transit-transport systems.

"The main obstacles in development of infrastructure were weak and undeveloped infrastructure, high transport expenses in connection with a low level of development of infrastructural services and numerous non-tariff barriers, a low level of export of goods to the international markets, bureaucratic procedures on borders, weak traffic security, and insignificant and out-of-date motor transportation park," the press service informed.

In his speech the chairman of the Kazakhstan delegation acquainted the participants of the session with activity of Kazakhstan on development of its transit-transport potential. He noted that, according to the national transport strategy till 2015, a number of large projects, among which is erection of a road transit corridor Western Europe - Western China, will be realized.
