Russia ratified document accepting Chinese language as second working language in SCO
Almaty. July 9. Kazakhstan Today - Russia ratified the document accepting the Chinese language as the second working along with Russian in Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the agency reports referring to RIA Novosti.
According to the Russian agency, on Friday, at the plenary session members of Council of Federation ratified the protocol on introduction of amendments into the agreement between SCO member states.
This document has changed procedure of appointment of management of SCO Executive Committee and introduced amendments providing for acceptance of the Chinese language as the second working language alongside with Russian.
Representing the document, vice chairman of Committee of Chamber for International Affairs Vasily Lihachev explained that the introduced amendments change the order of appointment of Vice Directors of Executive Committee of SCO regional antiterrorist structure.
"After the protocol comes into force appointments for this post will be carried out not by Council of leaders of SCO member states, but by SCO Council of the regional antiterrorist structure," the Senator said. According to V. Lihachev, this change will release Council of leaders of the states from solution of the iisues of technical character and hold procedure of appointment for this post according to the order of appointment of assistants to SCO Secretary General.
