Russia refuses to support UN's sanctions on Iran

Russia has refused to support UN's sanctions on Iran, Kazakhstan Today reports.

Almaty. February 16. Kazakhstan Today - Russia has refused to support UN's sanctions on Iran, Kazakhstan Today reports.

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday that another round of United Nations' sanctions on Iran would create social problems in the country and Moscow could not support them, Reuters reported.

Lavrov said UN sanctions imposed so far had targeted people linked to Iran's nuclear programme, but there were no longer any similar opportunities.

"Further sanctions would mean the creation of social problems for the population and we would not be able to support them," Lavrov said, speaking at a joint news conference with his British counterpart William Hague.
