Russian President signed decree firing Moscow mayor

The President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, signed a decree firing Moscow mayor, Yury Luzhkov, the agency reports citing the press service of the Kremlin.

Moscow. September 28. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, signed a decree firing Moscow mayor, Yury Luzhkov, the agency reports citing the press service of the Kremlin.

According to the press service, D. Medvedev signed the decree "on preterm removal from office of the mayor of Moscow".

The decree stated that Mr. Luzhkov was removed because he had lost "the trust of the President of the Russian Federation."

The President appointed Vladimir Resin the acting head of Moscow.

The decree will come into force from the date of its signing.
