Russian President to visit near-Caspian countries on July 3-7

The President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev will visit the near-Caspian countries on July 3-7, the agency reports.

Moscow. July 1. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev will visit the near-Caspian countries on July 3-7, the agency reports.

The first stop will be in Baku. At the meeting with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev Medvedev will discuss vital issues.

According to Azerbaijan political scientist Ilgar Velizade, "construction of transport corridor North - South will be one of the most important topics of the negotiations of the Russian and Azerbaijan Presidents." The leaders of two states will touch upon gas topic. Recently Russia made Azerbaijan energy proposal: Gazprom suggested buying Azerbaijan gas by market prices on the basis of the long-term contract. The leaders of two states will discuss the Karabakh question at I. Aliyev's initiative.

In the evening on June 4, D. Medvedev will pay the first official visit to Ashkhabad. The Russian President received invitation to visit Turkmenistan during the informal summit of CIS countries held in St. Petersburg on June 6-7. The counterparts will talk about construction of the Near-Caspian pipeline and define price for Turkmen gas for Russia. As it was informed earlier, the chairman of Gazprom Alexey Miller held two rounds of negotiations which have not brought any results in Ashkhabad.

On June 6, the Russian President D. Medvedev will arrive in Astana where he will take part in two solemn events: the 10 anniversary of the capital and birthday celebration of the President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
