State Duma approved Vladimir Putin candidature for the post of Prime Minister of Russian Federation, the agency reports referring to the news agency RIA Novosti on Thursday.

Almaty. May 12. Kazakhstan Today - State Duma approved Vladimir Putin candidature for the post of Prime Minister of Russian Federation, the agency reports referring to the news agency RIA Novosti on Thursday.

"392 deputies voted for and 56 - against, none abstained.

"It is a record result in support of candidature by the Parliament for the post of the prime minister of Russian Federation," the Speaker of Lower House of Parliament Boris Gryzlov said following the results of voting.

Putin was the Prime Minister in 1999 prior to election for the post of the leader of the state in 2000.

Inauguration of Dmitry Medvedev, who won in presidential elections, March 2, 2008 took place on Wednesday. Eight-year presidential term of V. Putin expired.

After assumption of the office D. Medvedev proposed in the Lower House of Parliament candidature of V. Putin for the post of prime minister. In accordance with the Constitution, the government of Victor Zubkov automatically resigned his commission to the newly elected president.
