Tokayev Proposes Digital Bridge Between Kazakhstan and China

Tokayev Proposes Digital Bridge Between Kazakhstan and China
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has proposed establishing a Kazakhstan-China Digital Bridge to promote digital trade and deepen the integration of the two countries' digital economies. The initiative was unveiled during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai.

"We propose launching the Kazakhstan-China Digital Bridge initiative, with the primary goal of promoting digital trade and creating a practical model for integrating our digital economies within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. We should accelerate the safe and large-scale deployment of artificial intelligence in sectors such as manufacturing, mining, energy, agriculture, healthcare and water resource management," Tokayev said.

The president stressed the importance of ensuring that national approaches to AI regulation are compatible.

"It is critically important to establish common standards for testing and certifying artificial intelligence systems. We must develop robust safeguards against the malicious use of AI, including cyber threats, deepfakes, digital fraud and other emerging risks. We would also highly appreciate the Chinese government's support for our proposal to designate next year as the Year of Joint Kazakhstan-China Artificial Intelligence Initiatives," Tokayev said.
