UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Office for Central Asia to be opened in Bishkek

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia will sign with the government of Kyrgyzstan the agreement on opening in Bishkek its regional office on June 10. Louise Arbur, the UN Human Rights High Commissioner informed in Geneva at the eighth session of Human Rights Council, the agency reports referring to the UN news center on Tuesday.

Almaty. June 4. Kazakhstan Today - The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia will sign with the government of Kyrgyzstan the agreement on opening in Bishkek its regional office on June 10. Louise Arbur, the UN Human Rights High Commissioner informed in Geneva at the eighth session of Human Rights Council, the agency reports referring to the UN news center on Tuesday.

She emphasized that this agreement is the result of several years of negotiations and significant step in cooperation development between UN High Commissioner Office for Human Rights and the countries of the region.

The legal expert of the United Nations noted that within last two years significant progress in creating regional branches has been reached, however, we still have difficulties in establishing them in Northern Africa and Southwest Asia. Louise Arbur expressed hope that her successor will finish these projects.

On June 30 Louise Arbur will complete her four-year-old term. She has decided not to run for another term.
