UN to allocate $6.5 million for creation of Central Asian center on struggle with drug trafficking

Almaty. March 2. Kazakhstan Today - The UN will allocate $6.5 million for creation of the Central Asian center for struggle with drug trafficking, the UN law-enforcement advisor on drugs and criminality issues in Central Asia Tofik Murshudli said on Thursday at the press conferences.

According to the representative of the UN regional executive board, the center will be financed completely from the UN department for struggle against drugs and criminality. The main donors of the project are Finland, the Great Britain, the USA, Italy and Luxembourg. "We assume that other countries will show the interest in the center activity," he added.

For today, the Presidents of five countries - Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan signed the agreement on the center creation. According to T. Murshudli, the Presidents of the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan will sign the agreement in the near future.
