The USA increased the payment for Manas airport use in Kyrgyzstan from $17 million up to $60 million, the agency reports citing sources in the Parliament.

Bishkek. June 23. Kazakhstan Today - The USA increased the payment for Manas airport use in Kyrgyzstan from $17 million up to $60 million, the agency reports citing sources in the Parliament.

According to the source, the Committee for International Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation and the Committee for Defense, Security, Law and Order and Judicial-Legal Reform of the Parliament passed the bill on opening at Manas airport the center of transit transportations.

According to the Parliament, joint economic development fund is planned to be created. The centre will be created not on Manas air base. It will be protected by the law-enforcement bodies and the Ministry of Defense of Kyrgyzstan," the source informed.

The parties have agreed on opening the center of transit transportations at the international airport Manas, which will exist on the basis of the present air base of the coalition forces. The air base Manas was opened in Kyrgyzstan in December, 2001 under the mandate of the United Nations for realization of the antiterrorist operation of the USA and their allies in Afghanistan. In the spring of 2009, the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan denounced this contract.
