USA interested in Kazakhstan presidency in OSCE

The United States is interested in Kazakhstan's presidency in OSCE.

Astana. November 12. Kazakhstan Today - The United States is interested in Kazakhstan's presidency in OSCE. The State Secretary of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev stated during the meetings with the representatives of political establishment of the USA during his visit to the country, the agency reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan on Saturday.

"During Washington meetings of the State Secretary the question of future presidency of Kazakhstan in OSCE was discussed... It was marked that the United States is interested in Kazakhstan's presidency in this international organization," the message states.

The USA State Secretary, Condoleezza Rice, stated, "that the USA wishes Kazakhstan would become successful chairman of the organization." In his turn, the Senator Joseph Lieberman noted at the meeting "Kazakhstan is the worthy candidate for the post of OSCE chairman and its nominee deserves support."

Following the results of the discussion of the issue with the US officials, the arrangements on continuation of open and meaningful dialogue in the spirit of strategic partnership with the view of achievement of mutually acceptable decision on the question have been reached, the press service of foreign policy department informed.

During the visit K. Saudabayev held the negotiations with the US State Secretary Condoleezza Rice, the adviser of the president on national safety Stephen Hedli, the Minister of Energy Samuel Bodman, key members of the congress of the USA, and the candidates for president - senator Sam Braunbek and the congressman Thomas Tancredo.

"During the negotiations discussion of all spectrum of cooperation between two countries, and some actual international problems took place. Future development of mutual relations defined by the Presidents Nursultan Nazarbayev and George Bush as large-scale long-term strategic partnership, which covers cooperation in the sphere of safety, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, energy, trade and investments, and the dialogue in the sphere of political liberalization took place," the message of the press service informs.
