Uzbekistan closed border with Tajikistan

The Republic of Uzbekistan has closed its border with the Republic of Tajikistan in connection with celebrations on September 1, 2009 of anniversary of independence of Uzbekistan, the agency reports citing Central Asian news service CA-NEWS.

Almaty. August 28. Kazakhstan Today - The Republic of Uzbekistan has closed its border with the Republic of Tajikistan in connection with celebrations on September 1, 2009 of anniversary of independence of Uzbekistan, the agency reports citing Central Asian news service CA-NEWS.

According to the central administrative board of the Frontier Troops of the State Committee of National Security, the border will be closed until the end of the first decade of September. Only the citizens of Russia and Uzbekistan will be able to travel to Uzbekistan from Tajikistan during this period. The citizens of Russia and Tajikistan will be able to travel to Tajikistan through Uzbekistan to go back home and the citizens of Uzbekistan to go to a funeral.

"The employees of diplomatic missions will be able to freely cross the border," CA-NEWS informed.
