Yesset Baiken Appointed Governor of Kazakhstan's Ulytau Region

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has appointed Yesset Baiken as Akim (Governor) of the Ulytau Region, the presidential press service, Akorda, said.

Before his appointment, Baiken served as Deputy Akim of Astana.

Yesset Berikovich Baiken was born in 1986 in the Karaganda Region. He graduated from the Kazakh Humanitarian Law University with a degree in Finance and later earned a degree in Law from Academician Y.A. Buketov Karaganda State University.

Baiken began his career in 2008 at Astana's Department of Economy and Budget Planning. He later worked in the Office of the Akim of the capital before joining the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan.

In 2019, he was appointed Akim of the Nurinsky District in the Karaganda Region. He subsequently headed the Office of the Akim of Nur-Sultan and later served as Akim of the capital's Saryarka District.

Since February 2022, Baiken had served as Deputy Akim of Nur-Sultan, continuing in the same role after the capital was renamed Astana in September 2022.
