150 billion KZT to be allocated for nature protection operations
Astana. February 2. Kazakhstan Today - The sum of the nature protection operations will total in 2009 150 billion KZT, the Environmental Protection Minister of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Iskakov, informed at the session on Saturday, the agency reports.
According to the Minister of the Environmental Protection, emissions to the atmosphere have been reduced by 149 thousand tons. "Kazakhstan's participation in the ecological projects will increase up to 85 % (current - 65 %) and number of workplaces will increase up to 80 thousand people," he specified.
The Minister noted that 43 largest enterprises of the country "responsible for 80 % of emissions in 2008 spent 123 billion KZT on their reduction".

Oil spill detected in Caspian Sea
According to space monitoring data, received from Sentinel-1A (02:43 UTC), an oil spill was detected on March 30 in the area of Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea. The spill area is about 7 square kilometers. The spill was drifting to the north of the Caspian Sea," the publication reads.
If these facts are confirmed by Atyrau region’s Ecology Department, unscheduled inspection will be conducted at the North Caspian Operating Company. The results will be reported additionally," the Ecology Committee says.
