16 accused in HIV case deny guilt

Shymkent. February 19. Kazakhstan Today - In Shymkent the court procedure on the criminal case of intra hospital HIV infection of the South Kazakhstan children interrogation is coming to the end: 16 defendants out of 21 have been questioned, the agency reports.

The employees of the city children's hospitals №1 and №2 and a number of workers of the regional children's hospital have been interrogated. It is necessary to interrogate two regional children's hospitals chairmen, the head physician, his assistant, and the bookkeeper of this hospital.

None of the medical workers pleaded guilty of HIV infection of the South Kazakhstan children. Those physicians who are incriminated extortion of money from the parents of sick children deny their guilt as well. The courier of the regional children's hospital Halba Asanov, accused of participation in blood sale, refused to answer the questions.

At present, HIV has been revealed in one more child. The number of HIV infected children reached 93 and 13 mothers.
