18 session of World Tourism Organization General Assembly planned for October 2009 in Astana

The 18th session of World Tourism Organization General Assembly (WTO) will be held on October, 2009 in Astana. The Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, Temirkhan Dosmuhambetov, informed during III forum of mayors of cities of the Silk Way on Tuesday, the agency reports.

Almaty. September 3. Kazakhstan Today - The 18th session of World Tourism Organization General Assembly (WTO) will be held on October, 2009 in Astana. The Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, Temirkhan Dosmuhambetov, informed during III forum of mayors of cities of the Silk Way on Tuesday, the agency reports.

According to T. Dosmuhambetov, Kazakhstan was selected a member of WTO Executive Councilin 2007 in the city of Cartagena (Colombia). "Astana has been selected the city for carrying out of the 18th session of WTO General Assembly in October, 2009," the Minister said.

"For successful realization of the project on development of tourism on the Great Silk Way I propose to consider the question of the course of realization of the 18th WTO General Assembly," the Minister of Tourism and Sports offered.

"The second - the national tourism administrations along with mayors of the cities need to consider proposals on introduction of the uniform tourist visa Silk Way. It will enable tourists to visit several countries of the Great Silk Way. The third - the countries - participants of the project of Silk Way need to establish uniform service standards, servicing tourists living in hotels and all types of transport. The fourth - the national tourist administrations need to consider an opportunity of creation of uniform tourism product for the countries of the Great Silk Way," T. Dosmuhambetov said.
