32 rocket launches scheduled from Baikonur in 2008
Baikonur. January 14. Kazakhstan Today - 32 rocket launches have been scheduled to be made from Baikonur in 2008, 29 of which are for space purposes and 3 test, the agency reports referring to Kazcosmos press service.
According to the press service, the launches of space rockets Proton, Soyuz and Zenith have been scheduled. Thus, according to Kazcosmos, record quantity of launches from Baikonur have been planned for 2008 for the last 10 years.
This year Proton-M with the space device Express-АМ33 will be launched the first on January 28.
"In the first quarter 8 launches have been scheduled, in the second - 5, in the third - 8, and in the fourth - 11," the press service specified.
"Four launches of the rocket carrier Proton have been planned under the Russian programs Glonass and Express, two - in the interests of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and nine are commercial," Kazcosmos informed.

Oil spill detected in Caspian Sea
According to space monitoring data, received from Sentinel-1A (02:43 UTC), an oil spill was detected on March 30 in the area of Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea. The spill area is about 7 square kilometers. The spill was drifting to the north of the Caspian Sea," the publication reads.
If these facts are confirmed by Atyrau region’s Ecology Department, unscheduled inspection will be conducted at the North Caspian Operating Company. The results will be reported additionally," the Ecology Committee says.
