6 victims of human trafficking returned from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek. December 14. Kazakhstan Today - 6 people - victims of human trafficking have been returned to Kyrgyzstan from Kazakhstan by the law-enforcement bodies. The vice chairman of the State Committee of Kazakhstan for Migration and Employment Dosmir Uzbekov said at the press conference on Thursday.

According to D. Uzbekov, last year the bodies of national security of Kyrgyzstan instituted 10 criminal cases on the facts of trade in people, 15 people were convicted. 33 criminal cases have been instituted this year in Kyrgyzstan. According to the State Committee of Kyrgyzstan for Migration and Employment, more than 20 victims of human trafficking have been returned home to Kyrgyzstan.

In his turn, the regional representative of the United Nations Department for drugs and criminality James Kallahan emphasized that available statistics does not reflect the real situation. He noted that human trafficking and illegal migration - two interconnected problems. According to J. Kallahan, incomes of those involved in this business are very high. For example, illegal delivery of one person from China to the USA costs nearly $20 - 25 thousand.
