A number of abandoned religious groups continue to operate in Kazakhstan
Astana. May 16. Kazakhstan Today - Some of the religious groups liquidated by a court continue to carry out its activities in Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Today reports.
According to the Chairman of the Agency for Religious Affairs Kairat Lama Sharif, currently the legal process of elimination of religious associations that have not been re-registered is completing. Now 430 acts out of 436 claims have come into force. The work on the remaining claims will be over in the near future, according to Kazinform.
"It is necessary to note that religious activities may only be conducted by the registered religious associations," reminded K. Lama Sharif.
However, as the chairman of the Agency informed, some of the liquidated religious groups, despite the court decision, continue to carry out their religious activities. In this regard, the Departments of Religious Affairs in the regions along with other government agencies conduct specific practical measures for implementation of court decisions with outreach efforts. For these purposes liquidation commissions work on sites.
K. Lama Sharif also said that there is a new Scientology organization in Almaty called "The Way to Happiness" registered as a public association.
Earlier associations "The Church of Scientology of Almaty" and "The Church of Scientology Medea" were denied to repeat registration on the grounds that Scientology was not a recognized religion and, accordingly, these entities could not be re-registered as a religious association.
