Almaty plans to increase length of ski tracks by six

The Mayor of Almaty also instructed to work on the transfer of the CSKA mountain-skis base to the cityИs communal ownership, and to launch suburban transport in mountain resorts as Pioneer and Oi-Qaragai Lesnaya Skazka.
On order of the Mayor’s Office of Almaty, Austria’s Master Concept designed a general plan to develop a mountain cluster around the megapolis and Almaty’s agglomeration until 2030, a press office of Almaty’s Mayor informs.

The general plan focuses on developing tourism and embraces all the mountain locations of the region: Turgen, Ak Bulak, Oi-Qaeagai Lesnaya Skazka, Tabagan, Butakova, Pioneer, Kok Zhailau, Shymbulak and Kaskelen.

According to Master Concept’s General Director Leitner Gernot, the Almaty region’s mountain cluster has a huge tourist potential.

The general plan includes building 470km of mountain, 85km of bicycle, 45km of horse and 250km of ski tracks, that’s 6 times the current track.

During the working tour, Almaty’s Mayor Baurzhan Baibek examined all the mountain locations of the region and held a retreat with the leadership of the Governor’s Office of the Almaty region.

The Mayor of Almaty also instructed to work on the transfer of the CSKA mountain-skis base to the city’s communal ownership to further expand the commonly available sports-family resort within the megapolis, and to launch suburban transport in mountain resorts as Pioneer and Oi-Qaragai Lesnaya Skazka to promote mountain tourism.

A new bus route will run three times a week (Friday – Saturday -Sunday) each 2-3 hours.

It should be noted that the development of a general plan to develop the mountain cluster as part of the memorandum signed involved the Mayor’s Office of Almaty and the Governor’s Office of the Almaty region, Ile-Alatau National Park, Kazakh Tourism and Master Concept. A group set up to discuss the general plan’s concept was made up of representatives of governmental agencies, international tourist companies, public funds, tourist associations, universities and sports tourism federations.
