Almaty remains most polluted city of Kazakhstan - Office of Public Prosecutor
Almaty. April 13. Kazakhstan Today - Almaty still remains the most polluted city of Kazakhstan. The deputy chief of the Office of Public Prosecutor of Almaty Armand Dzhaksylykov said today during the round table following the results of the action Law and Nature.
Pollution of atmospheric air and emissions from motor transport makes 80 % off total amount of emissions of polluting substances. There have been revealed many infringements of nature protection legislation committed by the service enterprises.
Influence of dust on environment is of special concern. In Almaty, according to Kazhydromet, increase of the index of dust in the city reaches 1.17 in 2001 up to 1.95 in 2006. According to the Office of Public Prosecutor, one of the factors negatively influencing the level of dustiness is the activity of construction sites especially located along the central streets.

Oil spill detected in Caspian Sea
According to space monitoring data, received from Sentinel-1A (02:43 UTC), an oil spill was detected on March 30 in the area of Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea. The spill area is about 7 square kilometers. The spill was drifting to the north of the Caspian Sea," the publication reads.
If these facts are confirmed by Atyrau region’s Ecology Department, unscheduled inspection will be conducted at the North Caspian Operating Company. The results will be reported additionally," the Ecology Committee says.
