ArselorMittal Temirtau reduced funding social projects in the Karaganda region by almost 50%

The funds will be used for the support and development of sports, culture, education and improvement of the cities and the regions, where the company's enterprises are situated, and social problems of the region. In addition, funds will be directed to charity and purchase of equipment for orphanages in the region.

Karaganda. February 8. Kazakhstan Today - ArselorMittal Temirtau has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Akim of Karaganda region, Kazakhstan Today reports.

"The amount of funds allocated by the Memorandum, this year, is less than in previous years. This is due to the difficult economic situation. Despite all the difficulties, the company follows its principle of social responsibility. Cost of memorandum in 2013 was 675.7 million tenge. In 2012, the sum of the memorandum was 1.3 billion," the press-service of the company informed.

According to the report, the funds will be used for the support and development of sports, culture, education and improvement of the cities and the regions, where the company's enterprises are situated, and social problems of the region. In addition, funds will be directed to charity and purchase of equipment for orphanages in the region.

"In particular, the company will continue to finance the football club Bulat and the hockey team Arystan, sports base for athletes of Temirtau, grants for artists of the Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments named after Tattimbet under Concert Association named after K. Baizhanov, welfare assistance to veterans of war for the Victory Day, support for the youth association of Karazhan, solving of municipal problems, landscaping and beautification of cities and regions of the company's business location," the press-service informed.
