Bill on science does not sustain criticism

Almaty. February 12. Kazakhstan Today - The scientists of Almaty during the meeting with the deputy of Majilis of Parliament of Kazakhstan, Altai Tleuberdin, said that the bill on science will not stand for criticism, the agency reports.

"The bill on science will not stand for criticism from the point of view of conformity to classical definitions," the chair of the Kazakh National Technical University, Alexey Tsehovoy, said. As he said, "there is no definition of science in the law and there is no concept of receiving new knowledge."

The scientists sent the letter to the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, in December, 2009, where they stated that the bill on science contradicts the main ideas on science reform and some offers on how to edit it.

The participants of the today's meeting noted that the new bill does not pay enough attention to fundamental science development, the technique of preparation of scientists. The mechanisms of financing and science stimulation have been under control of the Ministry of Education and other subordinate institutions."
