Birthrate increases in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan won't face a demographic crisis since 400,000 children were born last year while over the past 11 months their number has reached half a million. Infant and maternal mortality rates also decreased by 10% and 18% respectively.

Almaty. December 6. Kazakhstan Today - Birthrate has increased in Kazakhstan while maternal and infant mortality have gone down, representatives of the Ministry of Health reported Wednesday.

According to Caspionet, Kazakhstan won't face a demographic crisis since 400,000 children were born last year while over the past 11 months their number has reached half a million. Infant and maternal mortality rates also decreased by 10% and 18% respectively.

The Ministry of Health said that social campaigns carried out within the framework of the "Salamatty Kazakhstan" program played a special role in this. Gynecologists and obstetricians have been raising awareness of future parents since early 2012. They organize workshops and seminars on family planning and fertility treatment.

"This project covers all the aspects related to family planning, preparing for pregnancy, and the warning signs to look for during pregnancy. The Ministry of Health raises awareness through such projects," said Magripa Imbergenova, Head, Maternity and Children Protection Department of Kazakh Ministry of Health.
