Blood service does not guarantee avoidance of South Kazakhstan tragedy - UNICEF

Astana. February. Kazakhstan Today - According to the Chairman of the UN Children's Fund representation in Kazakhstan Alexander Zuev, the condition of donor service in the Republic does not allow to guarantee that the situation with HIV-infection of South Kazakhstan children will not repeat in other region of the country, the agency reports.

"Blood service condition in the country, donor service and blood transfusion problems make treat any forecasts very cautiously. Today no one can guarantee that in other region there will not be the situation similar to the one that occurred in the South Kazakhstan oblast," A. Zuev said today after the meeting with the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev.

According to A. Zuev, UNICEF informed that it will continue to assist HIV infected children. UNICEF expects the arrival of the experts who will be engaged in protection of the rights of HIV infected children because they are to be completely integrated into society and should not be exposed to any discrimination," the UNICEF representative noted.
