Caspian countries start project on conservation of bio-resources of Caspian Sea
Astana. April 16. Kazakhstan Today - The countries of the Caspian Sea region along with the donor organizations start the project on conservation of bio-resources of the Caspian Sea, the agency reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Kazakhstan.
According to the press service, the Ministry of Environmental protection is holding the initial meeting of the representatives of the near-Caspian countries and the donor organizations on launch of the project 'Caspian Sea: Restoration of Fish Stocks and Creation of Permanent Regional Nature Protection Structure' (the project CaspEco).
The objective of the project is sustainable use and conservation of bio-resources of the Caspian Sea," the Ministry informs.

Oil spill detected in Caspian Sea
According to space monitoring data, received from Sentinel-1A (02:43 UTC), an oil spill was detected on March 30 in the area of Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea. The spill area is about 7 square kilometers. The spill was drifting to the north of the Caspian Sea," the publication reads.
If these facts are confirmed by Atyrau region’s Ecology Department, unscheduled inspection will be conducted at the North Caspian Operating Company. The results will be reported additionally," the Ecology Committee says.
