Change of climate will have negative consequences for fishery - FAO

Consequences of change of climate will negatively affect sea fishery and agriculture that will threaten provision of food resources for certain groups of population. The participants of symposium of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) held in Rome on July 8 - 11 came to this conclusion , the agency reports referring to UN News Center.

Almaty. July 11. Kazakhstan Today - Consequences of change of climate will negatively affect sea fishery and agriculture that will threaten provision of food resources for certain groups of population. The participants of symposium of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) held in Rome on July 8 - 11 came to this conclusion , the agency reports referring to UN News Center.

More than 200 experts from different countries arrived at the Roman symposium. The main objective of the event - to present a full picture of climatic change and those difficulties that fishery and the people depending on this branch will face.

Fishing facilities located both in high latitudes and in zones of coral reeves are in group of risk. Marine ecological system, depending on rising of sea level, can be subject, thus, to flooding, intrusion of salty waters and coastal erosion.

Today more than 42 million residents of the planet are involved in fishing sector and quantity of workers engaged in fishing industry is one hundred millions.
