China to become first world gold extractor in 2008

China will take the lead over South African Republic and will become the first world gold extractor. Vice Chairman of China Gold Miners Association Hou Huimin informed at the forum on market development of derivative products in Shanghai, the agency reports referring to News Agency Xinhua.

Almaty. May 30. Kazakhstan Today - China will take the lead over South African Republic and will become the first world gold extractor. Vice Chairman of China Gold Miners Association Hou Huimin informed at the forum on market development of derivative products in Shanghai, the agency reports referring to News Agency Xinhua.

According to society of gold miners, last year China extracted 270.49 ton of gold that is by 12.67% more as compared to the previous year. China took the lead of the USA and was the second in the world. This year gold extraction in China can reach 300 tons.

South African Republican was the world leader by volume of gold extraction for more than one hundred years. The share of the country's total volume of extracted supplies of gold is 35 %.
