Chingiz Aytmatov died in Germany

Bishkek. June 11. Kazakhstan Today - 79-year-old writer Chingiz Aytmatov died in the German clinic of Nuremberg, the agency reports referring to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, he died last night.

As it was informed earlier, the writer was in clinic in Nuremberg where he was hospitalized suffering from a serious form of pneumonia and renal insufficiency on May 16 from Kazan. He was in Kazan for a few days together with the group of telechannel Russia, which was shooting a documentary film on the occasion of 80 year anniversary of the writer A Day Lasts Longer Than a Hundred Years. However, C. Aytmatov felt worse and was taken to hospital. Physicians made a decision to send the writer to Germany for continuation of the course of treatment.

The funeral will take place in Bishkek on Saturday.

Aytmatov was born on December 12, 1928 in village Sheker of Talass oblast. The first stories were published in 1952; in 1956 - 1958 he studied in Moscow Literary School. He was the author of world famous stories Jamilya, Farewell, Gulsary, novels White Steamer, Executioner's Block. One of the latest works of Aytmatov - the novel When Mountains Fall (Eternal Bride) was published in Moscow in 2006.

The President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has condoled with the family of the great writer. The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin condoled with Aytmatov's family.
