CIS countries signed document on measures for non-admission of spread of virus of influenza A (H1N1)

Almaty. June 10. Kazakhstan Today - The CIS countries signed the document on joint measures for non-admission of spread in the territory of the CIS states of the virus of the influenza A (H1N1), the agency reports citing the press service of Federal Service for Surveillance in the Sphere of Protection of Consumer Rights and Well-Being of the Person (Rospotrebnadzor).

According to the Federal Agency, the meeting of the representatives of the CIS states regarding development of joint measures for non-admission of spread of the virus of the influenza A (H1N1) took place in Moscow, on June 9, 2009, headed by Rospotrebnadzor chairman, the chief state health officer of the Russian Federation, Gennady Onishchenko.

The meeting participants discussed the questions of organization of epidemiological control and laboratory diagnostic of the virus of the influenza A (H1N1), prospects of cooperation in the field of manufacture of the drugs for chemoprophylaxis and treatment of the influenza A (H1N1), including creation of a vaccine.

Following the results of exchange of opinions, the meeting participants signed the document on joint measures for non-admission of spread in the territory of the CIS states of the virus of the influenza A (H1N1). The meeting participants defined further steps to coordinate the measures for counteraction to the threat of pandemic influenza A (H1N1).

The results of the meeting will be considered at the next session of the CIS Economic Council on June 19, 2009 in Kishinev.

As informed earlier, WHO has received data from 73 countries of the world about 26 563 cases of the disease of the influenza A (H1N1). 140 cases have been fatal. WHO does not exclude that the decision on transition to the sixth phase of struggle against the influenza will be accepted soon. The announcement of this phase means that the global pandemic has begun.
