Closing ceremony of Vth Eurasian Media Forum took place in Almaty

Almaty. April 24. Kazakhstan Today – A Closing ceremony of Vth Eurasian Media Forum took place in Almaty on Saturday, the agency correspondent reports.

The chairman of Vth Eurasian Media Forum organizing committee Dariga Nazarbayeva thanked all forum participants. "I wish to thank all of you for very active work during these three very interesting, alive, intensive working days. Your participation, your brilliant mind, intelligence, professional experience made quality of forum work very high," D. Nazarbayeva said. "The discussions at the Forum were very sharp and the topics on the agenda were selected very successfully".

"I wish to express hope that our Forum became the event which pulls together, not separates our civilization. Such quality today is especially valuable," D. Nazarbayeva said. "We would like our Media Forum personified cooperation between cultures, the states, and in this case we would like to act as intermediary," she summed up.

As it was informed earlier, Eurasian Media Forum took place in Almaty, April 20-22. In the first day of the Forum the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev addressed speech of welcome to the forum participants.

The questions such as economic and geopolitical role of Central Asia in conditions of energy situation in the world and an increasing role of China and India; basic tendencies, models and technologies of development of the international electronic mass media; problems of formation of principles of tolerance and multiculture in the modern society; potential role of press in overcoming disputed opposition of cultures and religions were addressed at the Forum.

The leading international and regional journalists, outstanding politicians, the heads of world media community, businessmen and experts participated in the Forum.

The Forum was set up as a non-political body in Kazakhstan in 2001. EUMF objective is assistance to cooperation development between the East and the West.
