Conclusion on HIV infection epidemics end among children in South Kazakhstan to be made by competent commission

The conclusion on the end of intrahospital HIV infection epidemics among South Kazakhstan children should be made, following the results of the work of the special working group, Director of Central-Asian office CDC Michael Favorov stated, the agency reports.

Kazakhstan Today - The conclusion on the end of intrahospital HIV infection epidemics among South Kazakhstan children should be made, following the results of the work of the special working group, Director of Central-Asian office CDC Michael Favorov stated, the agency reports.

"The necessary evidence will be joint investigation on extent of HIV infection in children. And if we will be able to make sure that children born after the outburst, who could not be under risk, have no HIV infection, including hepatitis C, we will be able to say that yes, the outburst occurred, taken measures were effective and there are scientifically proved evidences that it is not an epidemic," M. Favorov said at the first republican conference taking place in Shymkent devoted to control over intra hospital infections.

The first republican conference, devoted to control over intra hospital infections, began in Shymkent. The main organizer of the conference - CDC (Center for control and preventive measures of diseases of the USA).

The conference will last for three days. About hundred participants: doctors, nurses, epidemiologists from all oblasts of Kazakhstan are taking part in the conference.

As it was informed earlier, as of today 133 HIV infected children have been registered in the South Kazakhstan oblast, ten died, one has been adopted and left abroad, and 17 HIV infected mothers.
