Court pronounced verdict on claims of parents of HIV infected children in Shymkent

Abay regional court of Shymkent has partially satisfied claims of parents of HIV infected children brought against the regional department of public health services.

Shymkent. February 4. Kazakhstan Today - Abay regional court of Shymkent has partially satisfied claims of parents of HIV infected children brought against the regional department of public health services. The lawyer of plaintiff Katira Bekbolova informed on Saturday, the agency reports.

"According to the decision of the court, two mothers, whose children died, will receive 100 thousand KZT and two more mothers, whose children have been infected, will receive 70 thousand KZT. We do not agree with such small sums and we will submit the appeal," K. Bekbolova stated.

The lawyer added that 20 more similar claims for compensation of moral and material damage will be directed to court soon.

As it was informed earlier, in the end of November of 2007, four parents brought claims for compensation of moral and material damage caused by HIV infection of their children in intrahospital conditions. The sum of the claim made 100 million KZT to each plaintiff.

145 HIV infected children have been registered in the South Kazakhstan oblast, ten of whom died. 17 mothers have been HIV infected.
