Criminal proceedings instituted in connection with deliberate AIDS infection

Last week criminal proceedings were instituted according to part 2, article 11 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan - attempt of infection with human immunodeficiency virus for the first time in the North Kazakhstan oblast, the agency reports.

Petropavlovsk. February 18. Kazakhstan Today - Last week criminal proceedings were instituted according to part 2, article 11 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan - attempt of infection with human immunodeficiency virus for the first time in the North Kazakhstan oblast, the agency reports.

According to policemen, ex-husband, earlier repeatedly imprisoned, a 27-year old resident of one of the regions of the oblast, unemployed, homeless, being registered in the AIDS center arrived to the citizen of the regional center, living with her son. "He came to his ex-spouse in the evening and tried to solicit her. He beat her, injected a syringe into her vein, having filled it with his own blood. He raped her and stole her cell phone," the police informed.

Criminal case has been instituted by the request of the victim, investigatory works have been conducted, and a number of necessary examinations have been scheduled. On February 13, the man was charged according to three clauses of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan: 120, part 2 (Rape); 178, part 2 (Robbery) and 116, part 2 (Infection with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV/AIDS) by a person knowing about presence of this illness). The accused has been pronounced the verdict of imprisonment.
