Criminal prosecution of Kyrgyzstan ex-president daughter Bermet Akaeva ceased

The criminal prosecution of the daughter of Kyrgyzstan ex-president Bermet Akaeva has been ceased due to absence of proof of fault, the agency reports referring to her lawyer Ikramidin Aytkulov.

Bishkek. September 18. Kazakhstan Today - The criminal prosecution of the daughter of Kyrgyzstan ex-president Bermet Akaeva has been ceased due to absence of proof of fault, the agency reports referring to her lawyer Ikramidin Aytkulov.

"The decision of the investigatory body of the State Committee of National Security of Kyrgyzstan dated September 13 to cease the criminal case was due to absence of proof of her fault in committing a crime," I. Aytkulov noted.

According to the lawyer, B. Akaeva left Kyrgyzstan on Sunday as the written undertaking not to leave the country had been cancelled.

As it was informed earlier, B. Akaeva had been charged according to three clauses of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan - hindrance to justice execution, disrespect for court, abduction, destruction, damage or concealment of documents, stamps, and seals. The criminal case concerning the daughter of the ex-president of the Republic was instituted on the fact of mass disorders in Kemin regional court on April 24, 2007. That day the regional court considered the case of whether B. Akaeva can run for the Parliament deputy.
