Dnepr carrier rocket crashes after launch at Baikonur

Astana. July 27. Kazakhstan Today - The carrier rocket Dnepr launched from Baikonur with 18 mini-satellites on board including the first Belarus space vehicle BelKa crashed in 189, 6 km from the launch spot, the Emergency Ministry press service informed the agency.

"On July, 27 at 1.43 a.m. PC- 20 with the group of space satellites carrier rocket Dnepr was launched from cosmodrome Baikonur. "In the 73rd second the rocket crashed in 189, 6 km from the launch spot, in 6 km to the north-east from the wintering Tagay, Emergency Ministry informed.

No casualties have been reported. Special investigation commission of the Emergency Ministry consisting of 35 officials and 6 units of technical equipment was sent to the crash site.

As it was informed earlier, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko arrived in Baikonur to observe the launch of the rocket. Belarus leader left for Minsk - Federal Space Center press service informed.
