Almaty. June 5. Kazakhstan Today - In order to prevent the introduction and spread of cases of Middle Eastern respiratory syndrome (MERS-CoV), caused by a new coronavirus, Kazakhstan has strengthened control of persons arriving from the Middle East, Kazakhstan Todayreports.

To date, in the republic cases of Middle Eastern respiratory syndrome (MERS-CoV), caused by a new coronavirus, are not registered, the Chief Medical Officer of Kazakhstan, Zhandarbek Bekshin informed.

According to him, to prevent the introduction and spread of MERS-CoV into the territory of the Republic, the monitoring of persons arriving from the Middle East, with the use of remote thermometry strengthened at checkpoints across the state border.

Regional departments of the Committee of State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision educate travel companies, inform traveling outside the country on prevention of infectious diseases, including the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS-CoV), caused by a new coronavirus, said J. Bekshin.

According to an official statement by the WHO today reported 50 laboratory-confirmed cases, 30 of which were fatal.

The cases were registered in Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia.
