Astana. February 19. Kazakhstan Today - The Emergency Minister of Kazakhstan Vladimir Bozhko considers that the economic policy of Arcelor Mittal Temirtau Company negatively influences safety conditions of miners. He stated the opinion today during the government session, the agency reports.

"The economic policy being carried out by Arcelor Mittal Company negatively influences safety conditions of the works and objectively makes employees of the mines to infringe industrial safety rules," V. Bozhko considers.

In this connection, he explained that the cost price of coal for mines continues to remain low ($24 for ton) while "the coal at the coke chemical manufacture costs $101 for ton, and the world price for coal makes $124 for ton." The net cost of coal of mines of the coal department of Arcelor Mittal includes all expenses, including purchase of modern equipment, as well as under investment projects," the minister has noted.

"As a result of such price policy, the miners to cover these expenses and to have a decent payment are compelled to increase speed and volumes of extraction, frequently to the detriment of their own safety," V. Bozhko emphasized.

According to V. Bozhko, as of today, more than 70 % of the total quantity of process equipment of the coal department of Arcelor Mittal is subject to replacement, including 100 % of fans of the main ventilation, 70 % of stationary conveyors, and more than 90 % of electric locomotives.
