Almaty. February 16. Kazakhstan Today - An eight-year-old Oklahoma boy helped deliver his baby brother at home when his mother went into labour in the middle of the night, Kazakhstan Today reports.

An eight-year-old Demarry Tennyson's first meeting with his new baby brother was one to remember, Daily Mail reported.

The third grade pupil delivered the child single-handed, when mother Kimberly went into labour in the middle of the night at her home in Oklahoma City.

Miss Tennyson was on the phone to her grandmother when her contractions started, and Demarry was called on to perform midwife duties.

The baby, who is yet to be named, was born 15 minutes after Miss Tennyson's contractions started.

When her contractions started she phoned grandmother Nadine Rogers.

Miss Rogers started making her way to her daughter's house, but by the time she arrived the baby had been delivered by its eight-year-old midwife.

As Miss Rogers talked her through labour on the phone, Demarry delivered the baby.

Talking about the role played by her eldest son, she said: 'He did everything, he didn't panic'

The mother was later taken to hospital where she and her new son are said to be doing well.
