Environmental Protection Ministry to strengthen control over performance of nature protection measures
Astana. January 20. Kazakhstan Today - The Environmental Protection Ministry of Kazakhstan intends to rigidly control implementation of nature protection measures. The head of the department, Nurgali Ashimov, informed at the board in the Environmental Protection Ministry of Kazakhstan, the agency reports.
N. Ashimov underlined that the Ministry will focus its attention on realization of the nature protection measures, which will serve as the basic criterion for issuing permissions.
"In 2010, the ministry will rigidly control performance of the nature protection measures up to withdraw of permissions."

Oil spill detected in Caspian Sea
According to space monitoring data, received from Sentinel-1A (02:43 UTC), an oil spill was detected on March 30 in the area of Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea. The spill area is about 7 square kilometers. The spill was drifting to the north of the Caspian Sea," the publication reads.
If these facts are confirmed by Atyrau region’s Ecology Department, unscheduled inspection will be conducted at the North Caspian Operating Company. The results will be reported additionally," the Ecology Committee says.
