EU allocated 240 thousand euro for struggle against bird's and human flu in Kazakhstan

Astana. February 6. Kazakhstan Today - The EU allocated 240 thousand euro for struggle against bird's and human flu in Kazakhstan. The head of the European commission in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Adriaan Van der Meer said at the press conference, the agency reports.

"The European Union allocated 240 thousand euro to the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan for the project Communication strategy on preventive measures for bird's and human flu," Van der Meer noted. "The project is directed, mainly, at preventive measures of bird's flu by means of information campaign organized in close cooperation with UNICEF and the government of Kazakhstan," he explained.

UNICEF representative in Kazakhstan Alexander Zuev informed that Children's Fund of the United Nations allocated additional means at the sum of $80 thousand.

As it was informed earlier, the new centers of bird's flu have been spot in Great Britain, Nigeria, Egypt, and Indonesia declared the state of emergency in connection with the disease outburst. The first cases of bird's flu in Kazakhstan were recorded in July and August 2005 and the last - in March 2006.
