FAO concerned about transfer of virus A (H1N1) from humans to pigs

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has called upon authorities and farmers to carefully control the state of health of pigs and to investigate any cases of occurrence of symptoms of the influenza. The organization stated after revealing in Canada the virus of influenza A (H1N1) transferred from a human to pigs, the agency reports citing the UN News Center.

Kazakhstan Today - Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has called upon authorities and farmers to carefully control the state of health of pigs and to investigate any cases of occurrence of symptoms of the influenza. The organization stated after revealing in Canada the virus of influenza A (H1N1) transferred from a human to pigs, the agency reports citing the UN News Center.

"Transfer of the virus from humans to animals that had taken place in Canada is not something unexpected as the influenza viruses are capable to be transferred from humans to animals," the chief FAO veterinary expert, Joseph Domenech, informed.
