Health Minister discussed localization of HIV infection in South Kazakhstan

Astana. October 30. Kazakhstan Today - Minister of Health of Kazakhstan Anatoly Dernovoy met a group of international experts to discuss the development of the system of public health services of the Republic, including the measures taken to localize HIV infection in South Kazakhstan oblast on Saturday in Astana, Health Ministry press service informed on Monday.

The USA Ambassador John Ordway, representatives of the international organizations CDC Michael Favorov and USAID Kerry Pelzman participated in the meeting with the Minister.

According to the experts participated in the meeting, "as a whole the most number of infected children for today has been revealed". "This number 78 included the majority of children who were in the risk of infection group, who received blood transfusion and treated in the medical organizations of the city and oblast.

According to the press service of the ministry, with a view of full HIV infection check in South Kazakhstan oblast, 48 949 persons including 9157 children till five years old were on treatment in hospitals since October of 2005, 198 donors, 3143 medical workers and 25 506 pregnant women have been conducted.
