Health services quality control committee did not initiate check of medical organizations

Shymkent. May 22. Kazakhstan Today - The committee for control over quality of health services of the South Kazakhstan oblast should have initiated check of medical institutions in connection with the first cases of HIV infection of the children and informed on the cases of infection to higher authorities. The expert of the Republican Committee for control over quality of health services Gulyum Asylbekova said at the court on the case of mass HIV infection of children.

In his turn, ex chairman of the committee for control over quality of health services in the South Kazakhstan oblast - defendant Ryskulbek Bayharashev objected, "according to the instruction we must inform higher authorities on the state of affairs once a quarter." "AIDS center and sanitary epidemic station should deal with HIV infection and infringement of sanitary epidemic procedure," R. Bayharashev said.

As it was informed earlier, 111 children and 14 mothers (nine died, one has been adopted and left abroad) have been HIV infected in the hospitals in the South Kazakhstan oblast. The judicial process on mass HIV infection case began its work on January 19. 21 people are in the dock.
