Infant mortality rate in Kazakhstan increased

Astana. January 30. Kazakhstan Today - The Minister of Health of Kazakhstan, Zhaksylyk Doskaliev, informed at the session of the Health Ministry infant mortality rate in Kazakhstan has increased, the agency reports.

"Infant mortality rate has reached 20.4 as compared to 14.4 last year. The predicted parameter was 30 infants out of 1000. In comparison with the other countries this parameter is very high. In 2008, the Ministry of Health held a comparative study of the key indicators of health of five CIS countries and five developed countries," the Minister of Health informed.

High death rate of children till one year old has been registered in the South Kazakhstan region, East Kazakhstan oblast, Zhambyl, Kyzylorda, and the Pavlodar regions. "Unfortunately, here in 32 % of cases the reason of children's death is inadequate pediatric help," Z. Doskaliev emphasized.
