International Day of Peace happened in New York

Almaty. September 26. Kazakhstan Today - With the active support of Kazakhstan, New York has hosted festive events devoted to the International Day of Peace. The acting minister of culture and information of Kazakhstan Darkhan Mynbai has come to the USA to present his country at this event.

According to Caspionet, on the initiative of UNESCO and with the support of Kazakhstan, the UN headquarters has witnessed the "Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future" conference. In his statement Darkhan Mynbai noted that Kazakhstan associates the Day of Peace with the idea of the humanity about justice, accord, and wellbeing and the harmonious combination of all nations and cultures is the effective way of the growth of the economy and wellbeing of society.

He also noted that Kazakhstan is the first state, which voluntarily abandoned nuclear weapons and nuclear tests. The head of the delegation also told about the development of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures, which marked 20 years and was initiated by the president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

"I believe that the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions is one of the most successful foreign political initiatives of Kazakhstan. This congress happens every three years beginning from 2003. The Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions involve leaders of all religious confessions," Darkhan Mynbai, Acting Kazakh Minister of Culture and Information said.

The Kazakhstan National Commission for UNESCO in cooperation with the the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs organized an exhibition of children's art as part of International Day of Peace and conducted it at the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the United Nations. The exposition is dedicated to building peace as an everyday way of life, to promote mutual understanding and agreement, and to combat all forms of violence all over the world. As a sign of friendship and peace Darkhan Mynbai presented the UNESCO Director General, Irina Bokova with a kobyz. In turn, Bokova presented the Kazakh Minister with an album of sites of cultural heritage, which are under the protection of UNESCO.

"Peaceful coexistence and dialogue begins with very simple things. It is about everyday work, which comes from the heart and is transmitted through art and culture. We can spread this good and positive energy, because it builds bridges between people starting from their worldview," Matthew Guwel, UN Directorate Representative said.
