Israeli satellite Amos-3 being prepared for launch at Baikonur

Preparation for launch of the Israeli satellite Amos-3 continues at Baikonur, the agency reports referring to the source at the cosmodrome.

Baikonur. April 3. Kazakhstan Today - Preparation for launch of the Israeli satellite Amos-3 continues at Baikonur, the agency reports referring to the source at the cosmodrome.

The launch of the space satellite Amos-3 by the booster rocket Zenith-3SLB is planned for April 24, 2008.

Today at the filling station of the platform №31 the experts of the design office of transport-chemical mechanical engineering started the works on re-fuelling with the components of fuel and compressed gases of the space vehicle Amos-3 delivered to the station overnight.

After re-fuelling the satellite Amos-3 will be transported to the assembly testing house of the platform №31 for docking with the booster block DM-SLB intended for launch of the satellite to the target orbit.

The experts of the cosmodrome have been checking the booster rocket Zenith-3SLB in the assembly testing house of the platform №42 intended for launch of the Israeli satellite.

The satellite Amos-3 will replace in the orbit the device Amos-1 launched in 1996. Amos-3 will expand cover zone of re-transmitters of Qu-range, will provide high-quality communication and broadband data transmission on the territory of the Near East, Europe, Africa, and some areas of Northern and South America.

The launch of the booster rocket Zenith-3SLB with the space satellite Amos-3 is planned to launch from the modernized starting complex of the platform № 45 on April 24, 2008.
