Astana. August 15. Kazakhstan Today - The Head of the President's Administration Adilbek Dzhaksybekov considers the results of struggle against corruption "unfavourable". He stated today during the government session on results of social and economic development of the Republic for the first half-year 2006, the agency reports.
In this connection, he considers it necessary to conduct regular, purposeful work on prevention of corruption in all directions.
According to the Head of the Administration, "corruption crime rate increased by 19 % within six months of 2006 compared to the previous year.
The commission on control of state bodies, mayor offices, disciplinary commissions of oblasts, cities of Astana and Almaty concerning the organization of struggle against corruption that includes employees of Office of Public Prosecutor, financial police and other interested state structures has been created.

Oil spill detected in Caspian Sea
According to space monitoring data, received from Sentinel-1A (02:43 UTC), an oil spill was detected on March 30 in the area of Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea. The spill area is about 7 square kilometers. The spill was drifting to the north of the Caspian Sea," the publication reads.
If these facts are confirmed by Atyrau region’s Ecology Department, unscheduled inspection will be conducted at the North Caspian Operating Company. The results will be reported additionally," the Ecology Committee says.
